District Collector H Arun Kumar suggested the Hospital Development Committees of various hospitals in the district to extend quality healthcare to the patients. Kakinada: District Collector H Arun Kumar suggested the Hospital Development Committees of various hospitals in the district to extend quality healthcare to the patients. The Collector held a review meeting with chairmen, conveners and members of newly constituted committees at the Collectorate here on Tuesday.
Releasing the one-day training module for newly elected conveners and members of committees, the Collector said as per GO 48, committees for all PHCs and CHCs were constituted.
He said that in the one-day training programme, modalities for functioning of committees and the facilities being extended by the government were also mentioned.
He said for maintaining quality standards in the healthcare sector, the State government was attaching importance to upgrading facilities at government hospitals and making it affordable.
He said the government has addressed acute shortage of health personnel such as doctors and paramedical staff by appointing 65 doctors and 100 nurses at GGH in Kakinada.
He said the government has launched various schemes like NTR Vaidya Seva, Mother and Child (Talli Bidda) Express Vehicles and allied medical services to offer quality medical services to the poor.
He said the government is particular in improving the facilities in the government hospitals, especially those located in the rural areas of the district. He said a mechanised laundry will be provided to the Government General Hospital in Kakinada, at an estimated cost of Rs 70 lakh, with the support of GAIL.
He said the government will earmark funds to all the hospitals for improving facilities. “The funds should be used for bringing new equipment and add more facilities for giving quality healthcare facility to the poor patients,” he added.
The Collector nstructed the members of the HDS to work with commitment and improve services to the patients and gain their confidence. He said the hospitals would be graded based on their performance. He expressed happiness over the hospital staff doing their job well and urged them to ensure better services to the patients. He directed the members of the HDS to better equip hospital staff with knowledge in order to provide quality service.
Rajamahendravaram Vaidya Vidhan Parishad hospital coordinator Dr Ramesh Kishore urged the doctors to work towards reducing maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR) in the district.
He said the work so far is satisfactory; however it should be made more effective so that every patient get better and equal treatment. He said the survival rate of newborns could be increased only by conducting more pre-delivery awareness campaigns for women and enlightening them on effective immunisation programmes and measures to prevent communicable diseases. DMHO N Uma Sundari, Additional DMHO Dr Pavan Kumar and others were also present.
