Chittoor: The controversy surrounding over the Ambedkar Statue at the centre of the road in Kameswar Nagar, blocking the passage, finally ended with district administration successfully lifting the statue after the High Court gave its nod.

On January 10, All India Ambedkar Welfare Association led by its president Munaswamy, installed Ambedkar’s statue in Kameswar Nagar, causing inconvenience to residents. Even though the residents had lodged a complaint with the district administration, including Collector Siddharth Jain, they did not get any respite. Munaswamy approached the High Court and obtained a stay order, which criminalised any effort to remove the statue.

In response, the district administration too filed a petition before the High Court, noting that the move of the said association was against the directives of the Supreme Court. The petitioners also alleged that the association did not obtain any permission from the District Statue Committee. The High Court vacated the stay order.

Finally on Monday Chittoor RDO with his staff in tow reached the spot and lifted the statue and drove it to Ambedkar Bhavan.
