Hyderabad: The AP State Assembly on Monday witnessed acrimonious debate between the members of both sides, when the Leader of the Opposition and the YSRC chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy took strong exception to the allegations made by the TDP members namely Sravan Kumar and Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao, saying that the YSRC was trying to create disagreement and hostility among various castes, regions and religions across the State in order to create trouble to the ruling establishment.

While speaking in the House over the no-confidence motion moved by his party against the state government, Jagan wondered at all allegations made by the TDP members against his party. Holding the TDP manifesto released during the last general polls, the YSRC chief read out various promises made to different castes by the yellow party.

“Without going into the practicalities, you made big promises to various castes in the State. For instance, you promised Valmiki-Boyas that you would enlist them as STs. You have promised 33 per cent reservations to BCs and BC status to Kapus. After coming to power, you have forgotten all these promises,” he attacked the TDP leadership.

“You are charging me with creating rift between various castes for political mileage. In reality, it is the TDP which has history of using caste as a tool to achieve political means. You have earlier created rift within the Dalits. Now, you are trying to pit Kapus against BCs over the issue of granting BC status to Kapus,” Jagan criticised the ruling party.

Intervening in the discussion, the Labour Minister K Atchannaidu went ballistic at the YSRC chief and charged him with inflaming passions among various castes to create total “anarchy” in AP. “Jagan is creating rift among various castes, religions and regions in the State for political gains. He wants to create impediments to the development of the State.

He doesn't want new capital city to come up at Amaravati. He doesn't want AP to develop on all fronts”, he added. Hitting back at the treasury benches, Jagan said it is indeed the TDP, which is trying to use ‘caste card’ to derive political mileage, not the YSRC. “Chief Minister Naidu is pitting one caste against other for his selfish political gains. He created differences among Dalits. He is now trying to create rift between BCs and Kapus,” Jagan alleged.
