“Teachers, who encourage children to take to sports and games, pursue Art and crafts are very rare today. Gone are the days when schools and institutions have employed a special teacher to teach them art and painting. It is very heartening to see many young toddlers taking interest towards painting and drawing,” said former MLC Boddu Nageswara Rao in the city on Sunday.

He addressed a huge gathering of parents and children who came together to witness the 4th national level Drawing, Art and Painting Competition awards distribution programme organised by Dream Children’s Art Academy at Siddhartha Auditorium. Speaking on the occasion, Nageswara urged parents to encourage their children to pursue extracurricular activities like culture and arts, which are emerging as global professions.

Marks are not any parameters for the child’s intelligence and knowledge but arts reveal their understanding of society and creates vast opportunities for them to explore, he opined. The awards were given away to the budding artists from schools and other educational institutions on the occasion. Scores of students who are accompanied by their parents took a look around the exhibits put up in various media of art.

Glass paintings, drawings, paintings, egg shell art, pencil carving, chalk piece carving and many such are part of the expo. Former MP Chennupati Vidya, secretary of Andhra Arts Academy Golla Narayana Rao spoke on the occasion and appreciated the children.

Founder president of Dream Art Academy P Ramesh, Organising committee members D Durga Rao, Lion M Upendra, artists BA Reddy from Hyderabad, NS Sarma from Rajahmundry, G Jayanna from Hyderabad, A Rambabu from Vijayawada Art Society, M Mohan Rao from Srikakulam, P Bapiraju from Rajahmundry, secretary of TWAAS G Balayogi, Bezawada Finearts Academy N Ravi Kumar, 64 Kalalu.com Kala Sagar, Navrang Art academy secretary SM Malli and others were also present.
