Hyderabad: In a strategic move, the State government cornered YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy by deciding to go in for a discussion on the Motion of No-Confidence on Monday itself. The Speaker who admitted the no-confidence motion convened the business advisory committee meeting and the government said that they were ready for the discussion.

  • As the ruling party decides to hold the discussion on the no-confidence motion on Monday itself, the opposition had to serve whip to the MLAs who shifted to TDP only through SMS and e-Mails
  • Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu says the govt wanted to dispose of the no-confidence motion quickly as it had to take some policy decisions later

The reason given by the Minister for Legislative Affairs Yanamala Ramakrishnudu for this decision was that the government had to make certain policy decisions during the course of discussion on budget and it cannot do so unless the no-confidence motion was disposed off. Crying foul over this decision, the YSRCP MLAs said that the government wanted to help those who had quit YSRCP and joined TDP from getting disqualified.

YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that the government had refused to give time as it did not want the opposition to issue a whip. However, the YSRCP sent the whip through SMS and e-Mails and claimed that even if the members cannot make it to the house they would be liable for action for having defied the whip.

Jagan also demanded that the TDP should make the members who migrated from YSRCP to resign and seek fresh election. The TDP sources claimed that the whip sent by SMS and e-Mails will not stand legal scrutiny as it is mandatory for the members to sign and accept it.
