Jagan slams govt for not helping farmers hit by natural calamities

For 2014-15, a sum of Rs 78 crore is yet to be paid. Though the Centre sanctioned over Rs 970 crore, the State government released only Rs 858 crore and the balance was diverted," Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy alleged. The government did not pay a single rupee out of the Rs 1,021 crore due to calamity-hit farmers in 2015-16, Jagan said.

Protesting it, he led his party members out of the House. The issue was raised by YSRCP members Sujaya Krishna Ranga Rao and others during Question Hour. Agriculture Minister P Pulla Rao said the State government was still awaiting the release of calamity relief funds from the Centre, but over Rs 1,000 crore was already paid to farmers in the form of input subsidy and other assistance.
