Court stays proceedings against YSRCP MP

Justice Raja Elango of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday stayed proceedings against YSR Congress Party Ongole MP Y V Subba Reddy. The judge was dealing with a petition filed by the MP challenging proceedings against him in a trail court in Prakasam district.

Appearing for the petitioner, counsel Janakiram Reddy said a case of causing obstruction to traffic and holding a meeting without permission in Podili town was registered against Subba Reddy basing on a complaint by the election observer.

The petitioner complained that the allegations were baseless and that the police had failed to place the route map in which the petitioner allegedly caused obstruction to the traffic. He further pointed out that he had conducted the meeting with prior permission from the police authorities concerned.

He submitted a copy of permission from the police to hold the meeting to the court. The judge stayed all proceedings until further orders.
