Tirupati: In a laudable task, the Vigilance staff at tollgate (checking point) at Alipiri, foot of the hills here helped an NRI couple in finding a lost bag containing about Rs 40 lakh worth gold ornaments, on Monday. The couple Gummadi Sivasagar and Gummadi Bharathi while proceeding to Tirumala in their vehicle alighted at the tollgate for the inspection of their baggage and personal check by the security staff.

After the checking they left the toll gate, but the couple forgot to carry their black coloured bag, in which they were carrying valuable ornaments for the wedding ceremony. The bag remained at the tollgate. They realised the mistake only after reaching Tirumala. They immediately contacted the control room and enquired about the bag.

The control room staff contacted Alipiri tollgate security, who informed them that the bag was safe at the gate. The couple immediately went there and collected their valuables bag intact after verification of their identity by producing their passport and also giving the list of gold ornaments in the bag.
