Kakinada: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is likely to get yet another jolt soon after Ugadi as five MLAs from East Godavari led by YSRCP Deputy Floor Leader Jyotula Nehru are all set to switch loyalties to ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP). According to informed sources, while five MLAs are ready to jump over to the TDP bandwagon, it is said that the number might go up to 15 MLAs.

The TDP it is learnt to be in close touch with leaders like Alur MLA Jairam, Bapatla MLA Kona Raghupathy, former minister P Viswarup and Rajahmundry MLC Adireddy Appa Rao. From East Godavari district, those who are likely to cross over to TDP, apart from Nehru are V Subba Rao, Dodisetty Raja, Vantala Rajeswari and C Jaggareddy. It may be mentioned here that Nehru had been an important Kapu leader in TDP for a long time.

He had quit the party following differences with another important leader and Finance Minister Y Ramakrishnudu. However, the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have spoken to Ramakrishnudu and the matter has now been settled. Ramakrishnudu has reportedly given his nod for admitting Nehru back into the party fold. Though Nehru has been playing an active role in the Assembly as Deputy Floor Leader of YSRCP, he felt deeply hurt as he has not been nominated for the post of Chairman of Public Accounts Committee in place of Bhuma Nagi Reddy who had recently quit and joined the TDP. Since the party nominated a junior member, Nehru has been unhappy and has been holding a series of meetings with his followers and has been contemplating to quit the party, according to sources.

Soon after the party decided on B Rajendranath Reddy as party nominee for the post of PAC Chairman, the Deputy Chairman Chinna Rajappa is said to have commented in the Assembly lobbies that he had become the Deputy Chief Minister only because Nehru was not there in the party.

If Nehru had been in the TDP, the choice would have fallen on Nehru, he reportedly remarked. When The Hans India tried to contact Nehru, his associates said that he was in an important meeting with some of his followers and could not be reached.
