The Chittoor Police on Saturday nabbed two contract killers in an operation conducted in various parts of Tamil Nadu. Five four-wheelers, worth Rs 25 lakh, were seized from them, SP G Srinivas said. Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, the SP said Singaravellan (35) and D Madiayagan (42), the two main criminals of the five-member gang, were involved in several murder cases in Tamil Nadu.

Chittoor: The Chittoor Police on Saturday nabbed two contract killers in an operation conducted in various parts of Tamil Nadu. Five four-wheelers, worth Rs 25 lakh, were seized from them, SP G Srinivas said. Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, the SP said Singaravellan (35) and D Madiayagan (42), the two main criminals of the five-member gang, were involved in several murder cases in Tamil Nadu between 2011 and 2015.

With the police intensifying combing operations, the gang changed their strategy and switched to stealing vehicles in both Tamil Nadu and Chittoor. In an incident in Gudipala, the gang beat up a driver and sped away with his Bolero four-wheeler. Several cases of vehicle theft was registered against the gang in Kaniapakam,Yadanari, and Gudipala police stations in the district.

While the police have arrested two of them on Friday itself, he said efforts were intensified to nab other three soon. The SP advised vehicle owners to be careful about their vehicles. When asked about growing traffic problem in the city, he said that Chittoor Municipality should take responsibility of maintaining traffic signals as the police department was not given funds for the same.

ASP Abhisheik Mahathi (Administration), DSPs Lakshminaidu ( Chittoor), Ramakrishna ( CCS), West CI Adinarayana and others were present.
