Chittoor: The TDP district leaders remembered former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao on the occasion of TDP’s 35th foundation day on Tuesday. They paid floral tributes by garlanding the NTR statue here. Speaking on the occasion, ZP Chairperson Girvani recalled various welfare schemes implemented by NT Rama Rao. She said that party founder had strived for women empowerment in the united AP. “Because of NT Rama Rao, Telugu language got recognition nationwide,” she added.

The ZP chief gave a call for following the ideals former Chief Minister. She said that NT Rama Rao became role model for other states by implementing people-centric welfare schemes like Rs 2 a kg rice scheme for white card holders. She pointed out that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is following the footsteps of NT Rama Rao for developing the truncated State TDP leader B N Rajasimhulu stated that NT Rama Rao was instrumental in setting up Dravidian University in Kuppam, construction of bus station in Chittoor and taking up irrigation projects like Telugu Ganga, Handri Neeva and Galeru Nagari. Former MP Durga Rama Krishna stressed on the need for setting up NTR statues in all mandal headquarters.

Mayor in-charge Subramanyam, TDP leaders P Nani, Rajeswari, Chandra Prakash, Badri, Shanmugam, Narasimha Yadav, Mohan and others were present. Later, the party leaders distributed the fruits to orphans at an Orphanage and for the patients at Government General Hospital. TDP MLA D K Satyaprabha, TDP district President G Srinivasulu and Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy did not attend the event because of ongoing Assembly budget session.
