Visakhapatnam: The Urban unit of Telugu Desam Party celebrated the 34th formation day of the party in a big way, here on Tuesday. The party workers exhibited their enthusiasm in all the 72 wards, beginning an exercise for the ensuing corporation elections.

Some of the party workers raised slogans demanding Bharat Ratna for NT Rama Rao for his contribution to the State and the country. A few of them went into the sea and standing in knee deep waters also raised the slogans for the coveted award.

After garlanding the statue, the party leaders assembled at the Urban party office and organised a meeting, which was presided over by general secretary of the party Ch Pattabhiram. After cutting a cake on the occasion, Pattabhiram narrated the origin of the party and its service to the poor and needy in the State.

He also said the Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, has been fulfilling the mission of the NT Rama Rao by launching several welfare schemes unheard in the history of the State. Former MLA Dr S A Rehman narrated his close association with NT Rama Rao and described how Rama Rao inculcated a discipline in the party cadres.

Party flag hoisted

Srikakulam: The 35th foundation day of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was celebrated by its leaders, cadres and activists in Srikakulam in Tuesday. The party flag was hoisted by TDP district president G Sirisha. A public meeting was held on the occasion. Party leaders and activists took out a bike rally in Srikakulam to mark the foundation day. Speaking at party foundation day meetings party district president said social justice, equal development and corruption-free rule possible only with TDP. Cine actor-turned-politician NT Rama Rao found TDP 35 years ago to achieve empowerment to women, backward classes and Dalits, said ZP Chairperson Ch Dhanalaxmi. TDP would be strengthened by 2019 elections and the party would win all 10 assembly segments in the district, hoped party leaders M Venkatesh, Ch Nagabhushanam and B Govinda Rajulu.
