Vijayawada: Cheers and encouragement marked the 18th and 19th convocation of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) that was held at A Convention centre in the city on Wednesday.
Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chancellor of the University, presided over the event where Dr K S Chugh was conferred on with a doctorate from the university.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof T Ravi Raju elaborated on the measures that were initiated in the university in admission of candidates. “OMR based entrance tests have been replaced by online computer based tests for admissions into PG medical, dental and super specialty courses. NTRUHS is the first in the country to accomplish it. The key for entrance test was released within six hours and the results were published within seven days. We are phasing it out with web based counseling to enable students exercise options from home, cutting down the risk of traveling all the way.”
He also mentioned about digitising the university, facilities like videoconferences and e-classrooms, research and doctorates, emergency medicine and Basic Life Support (BSL), CME programme, faculty training workshops, Health Sciences Journal, sports, National Service Scheme and Jeevandan.
“To improve the quality of medical education and research, the university is contemplating to sign and MoU with Harvard Medical School. The Dean of Continuing Global Medical Education at Harvard Medical School visited and proposed training to excellence which includes training to clinicians, training to teachers and training to researchers. Select students will have an opportunity of training from Harvard experts for one year,” added Ravi Raju.
