A 7-year-old girl, Devirerddy Sahasra, who was kidnapped from her home in Kanigiri was successfully rescued by the Prakasam district police on Thursday night. According to the details revealed by the police, Sahasra was kidnapped by her uncle Rajesh Reddy, brother of her father Srinivasula Reddy.

Ongole: A 7-year-old girl, Devirerddy Sahasra, who was kidnapped from her home in Kanigiri was successfully rescued by the Prakasam district police on Thursday night. According to the details revealed by the police, Sahasra was kidnapped by her uncle Rajesh Reddy, brother of her father Srinivasula Reddy. Devireddy Srinivasula Reddy and his wife Malleswari are government teachers and residents of Kanigiri.
They had two girl children Lasya and Sahasra aged about nine and seven years respectively. After the completion of the half-day school, Srinivasula Reddy dropped the two girls at their home in Kothapet and went to market on a work.
Just after a few minutes, two persons wearing helmets dragged Sahasra onto a motorbike and left the place. The kidnappers called the mother of the girl and warned of severe consequences if she reported to police. After investigation and inputs from locals, the Markapuram DSP Haribabu, Kandukuru DSP Srinivasa Rao, Kanigiri CI Sudhakar Rao, SI Srinivasulu and HM Padu SI Haribabu formed a team who discovered that kidnappers were in Vijayawada. The team rushed to Vijayawada and raided a flat in Venkata Ramana enclave and rescued Sahasra and arrested three persons involved in the act.
The arrested were identified as Devireddy Rajesh Reddy, brother of Srinivasula Reddy and resident of Vijayawada, Tinnelapudi Salmon, resident of Papireddy Kandrika in Nellore district and Shaik Basheerunnisa, resident of Agiripalli in Krishna district. The police identified that disputes in the family are the reason for the kidnap. The district SP Ch Srikanth appreciated the police for rescuing the child within hours and recommended the team for reward from the department.
