Eluru: The Karnataka CID officials took five persons into custody in connection with AgriGold scam. The team reached Eluru on the directions of Bangalore First Additional Chief Metropolitan Court on Thursday morning. They directly headed to district jail and completed the formalities.

The CID team took AgriGold chairman Avva Venkata Rama Rao and MD Avva Venkata Seshu Narayana, director Pathan Lal Ahmad Khan, vice-president Immidi Sadasiva Vara Prasad and MD (Greenland Constructions) Kamireddy Sriramachandra Rao into their custody.

The main accused chairman Venakta Rama Rao, MD Avva Venkata Seshu Narayana were arrested on February 12. The remaining three were arrested on February 18. For the last one month, they are in the judicial remand in Eluru. The State CID team has taken the five accused into their custody on court orders for 10 days and handed over to jail officials.
