New Delhi: The Central government released Rs 900 crore on Thursday to Andhra Pradesh government to help it tide over its revenue deficit as well as towards capital building expenditure and CST (Central Sales Tax) dues.
This was disclosed by the Union Minister of State, Y S Chowdary, who asserted that Rs 650 crore more would be released soon towards CST dues.
Out of Rs 900 crore, Rs 500 crore is towards revenue deficit and Rs 200 crore each towards Polavaram project and capital construction. It may be recalled that Naidu had been insisting on higher Central aid to tide over the bifurcation crisis.
During his last two visits to Delhi, he insisted on greater allocations right from grants to bridge the resource gap (due to revenue deficit), assistance to Rayalaseema and north Coastal districts, assistance to Amaravati development and incentives for industrial development apart from allocations to irrigation projects like Polavaram and the envisaged development of the blue economy along with coastal area to rail and road connectivity.
Naidu compelling argument is that he was looking far into the needs of future and made proposals systematically and pin-pointedly.
