Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector Babu A has directed the officials to arrange Pushkara Nagar at the Railway Stadium for the convenience of Pushkaralu pilgrims.
The Collector, along with the Railway Divisional Manager Ashok Kumar inspected the Vijayawada main railway station, rail stadium and other railway stations at Gunadala, Ramavappadu and Rayanapadu on Thursday.
The officials inspected waiting rooms, parking facilities, ticket counters and other facilities in the main railway station.
He asked the revenue officials to work in coordination with the railway and municipal officials and set up Pushkar Nagar at the rail stadium. He said basic amenities like drinking water, toilets, medical kits, food and parking facilities must be provided at Pushkar Nagar.
He asked the officials to prepare estimates for construction of platform, approach road and other works at the Gunadala Railway Station. He instructed the officials to provide basic amenities for the pilgrims who visit the city. He said passengers come from Eluru, Vizag and Rajamundry should alight at Gunadala Railway Station.
Babu said the pilgrims come from Gudivada, Machilipatnam and other areas can alight at the Ramavarappadu Railway Station and instructed the officials to provide transport facility so that they can go to Pushkar ghats from Ramavappadu.
The Collector instructed the officials to arrange Pushkar Nagar at the open site belonging to Central Warehousing Corporation at Rayanapadu for the convenience of pilgrims.
The Vijayawada DRM, Ashok Kumar, said 190 trains pass via Vijayawada every day and railways would run another 500 trains during the Pushkaralu. He said the railways were taking measures to provide amenities for the pilgrims.
Additional Commissioner of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddha, Joint Collector Gandham Chandrudu, Sub-Collector G Srujana and other officials participated in the visit.
