Atmakur (Kurnool): A stilt walker from Karnataka, carrying a load of 50-kg on his head, was spotted on Saturday in Nallamala forest region while he was on his way to Srisailam.
He began his walk on March 24 at Moligiri village of Mudava taluk in Bagalkot district of Karnataka to pay his vows to Lord Mallikarjuna and his consort Bhramaramba. He was walking on two feet-long wooden legs to accomplish his mission.
People of Karnataka and Maharashtra regard Goddess Bhramaramba as their sister and undertake a journey on foot to have darshan of the Srisailam deities annually on Ugadi day. As legend would have it, it is a 600-year-old practice.
The Hans India lensman spotted the villager Hanmanthu and clicked his photo. Hanmanthu was carrying on his head a silk saree, turmeric, Kumkum, ornaments and rice.
For the past seven days, he says he has been covering a distance of 25 km per day. He sounded confident that he will reach Srisailam in two days.
