Vuyyuru (Krishna): Andhra Pradesh Writers’ Association president and Pulichintala Project special deputy Collector Somepalli Venkata Subbaiah appealed to people to celebrate Telugu New Year Durmukhi Nama Samvatsaram as per culture and traditions. Telugu New Year celebrations were held at the local Rotary auditorium here on Sunday under the joint aegis of the Sarasa Bharathi Sahitya Samskruthika Samstha and Rotary Club of Vuyyuru.

He said that it was very painful for celebrating English New Year rather than Telugu New Year and exhorted everyone to promote Telugu language. He added that people should be responsible and love their mother tongue. MLC YVB Rajendra Prasad lauded the contribution of Sarasa Bharathi Sahitya Samskruthika Samstha for developing Telugu language.

Andhra Pradesh Writers’ Association general secretary Chalapaka Prakash, Flora School principal J Syamaladevi and others spoke during the occasion. A poetic symposium was held on the occasion and the book written by Gabbita Durgaprasad Daiva Chittam was also released on the occasion.
