MLC Pilli Subhashchandra Bose, party senior leaders Ummareddy Venkateswarulu, Pinipe Vishwarooop and Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy also spoke during the meeting.
Kakinada: The YSR Congress meeting organised here on Monday decided to elect a new president for the East Godavari unit. The post fell vacant following the resignation of Jyothula Nehru a few days ago.
It may be noted here that Nehru also resigned from YSRC deputy leader post in Assembly following his decision to migrate to TDP.
Addressing the meeting, party senior leader Dharmana Prasada Rao said that party’s interests would not be hampered if one individual leaves the party. MLC Pilli Subhashchandra Bose, party senior leaders Ummareddy Venkateswarulu, Pinipe Vishwarooop and Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy also spoke during the meeting.
It was also decided that the next meeting would be held on April 11 to finalise the names for the post of district unit chief. The names of ZP chairman, Chelluboina Venu Gopala Krishna, former minister Pinipe Vishwaroop, party senior leader from Rajamahendravaram Jakkampudi Vijayalakshmi, former Kakinada rural MLA and Kurasala Kannababu are percolating rounds for
the post.
Sources say that if the party intends to continue its tradition to continue with the Kapu social section, the mantle may fall on either Kannababu or Vijayalakshmi and the final decision is expected to be announced by YS Jaganmohan Reddy after April 11.
