In Tirupati, metlotsavam was performed with grandeur by 1,000 bhajan troupes to mark the occasion. The members of the bhajan troupes later trekked to Tirumala from Alipiri Padala Mandapam, rendering the kirtanas of Annamayya all along the 10 km long serpentine foot path to Tirumala.

Tatiirup: Rich tributes were paid to saint-poet Tallapaka Annama charya on his 513th death anniversary which was celebrated in Tirupati, Tirumala and also at Tallapaka, the birth place of the saint-poet in Kadapa district on Monday.
Governor ESL Narasimhan participated in the Annamayya Vardhanthi celebrations at Tirumala on Monday. He took part in the Unjal sevas of Lord Venkateswara conducted as part of the celebrations at the tastefully decorated venue in the lush green Narayanagiri gardens on the hills. Later, a devotional musical programme based on the kirtanas of Annamayya was held in gardens in which large number of devotees participated.

Speaking on this occasion, the TTD Trust board Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy said that the great poet has dedicated his entire life in the service of Lord Venkateswara. Annamayya had worshipped the Lord with his kirtanas, he added. Following the spiritual path shown by such great people, Krishnamurth said that the TTD has been doing great works to promote the bhakti cult through Annamacharya sankeertanas.
JEO Pola Bhaskar said that Annamayya not only sanctified his life but also became immortal with his inspiring and emotional sankeertanas which will remain forever. All projects Deputy EO Sharada, Dasa project Chief Anandateerthacharya, editor-in-chief Samudrala Lakshmanaiah and others were also present. On the other hand, Dinamu Dwadasi and Annamacharya Sankeertanas were performed in Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati.
At Tallapaka, a procession was taken out amid bhajans in the morning followed by rendering of sankeertanas in the home town of the saint-poet in Kadapa district.
In the evening, a special programme on Annamayya sankeertanas and Harikatha rendered at 108 feet statue of the saint-poet here in a
big way.
