City roads to get facelift soon
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) will start road-widening and development works with Rs 105 crore grant sanctioned recently by the State Government for the Pushkaralu. The civic body is gearing up for the Krishna Pushkaralu and is taking measures to widen and develop the roads.

The VMC has earlier conducted detailed survey and identified more than 150 roads to be developed in the city for Pushkaralu. The State government has recently released Rs105 crore to the VMC. The following are some of the important roads that are to be developed. BRP road from Canal road in One Town to Railway station west booking office will be developed at a cost of Rs 1.64 crore.
Similarly, the road between Railway west booking office to K Market will be developed at a cost of Rs 1.58 crore. The road has been neglected for a very long time and damaged severely due to passing of heavy vehicles since Durga temple flyover works started. The VMC will spend Rs 7.58 crore to develop the Mahanadu road, Srinivasa Nagar colony, Bank colony main road, Bharati Nagar main road, DV Manor road, AS Ramarao Hall road and Amma Kalyana Mandapam road and other roads adjacent to MG Road and national highway.
The VMC will develop Prakasam road, Gopala Reddy road, Lal bahadur Sastry road, CRDA office road, Gopala Krishnaiah street, Gudavali vari street and other roads with Rs 9.4 crore. Tenders have been invited for the works. Roads in Ajit Singh Nagar and NSC Bose Nagar will be developed at a cost of Rs 9.14 crore.
BRTS road will be extended up to Railway station as part of the development of roads in the city. CK Reddy road, Madhura Nagar main road, CWG Godown road, Sadasiva Rao roads will get facelift with Rs 7.89 crore. Krambay road, Karakatta road and other roads in Bhavanipuram, Urmila Subbara Rao Nagar and Brahmin street, Wynchpet main, Gollapalem Gattu, KT Road and Ganapati Rao road in old city will be developed with Rs 20 crore.
BRP road will get footpath and drains as part of the development of the road. Convent road, RR Apparao street and market area will be developed as part of the road development works. At least 15 roads in Poornanandampet, Pezzonipet and Gandhi Nagar will be developed with Rs 9.95 crore. The VMC conducted survey and decided to develop these roads for Pushkaralu.
The State government has already sanctioned the grant and VMC has invited tenders to start the works, said the G Veerapandiyan, Commissioner of VMC. The VMC Council has gave nod to take up the works.
