Eluru city was selected under Amrut Scheme to make it as Smart City. As part of this, the Collector conducted meeting with the technical partner of Siemens Company representatives here on Tuesday.

K Kanna Babu, Director of Municipal Administration also took part in the meeting on basic facilities and other issues. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector has said to make Eluru a Smart City, five main basic facilities like drinking water, power, saniation, waste management and traffic problems should be dealt.

He requested the Siemens to submit a project report including these main basic facilities. He said under Smart City concept, Eluru had to supply 24 hour drinking water, provide underground drainage, solve the inundation problem of low-lying areas. These factors should also be included in the project report.

Traffic signals and CC cameras should also be erected in the city for controlling the traffic in the city. Streetlights should be set up by using non-conventional energy. Municipal Administration Director K Kannababu said that by utilising the modern technology, Eluru city should be developed as Smart City. Concentration should be on providing better drainage, roads, parks and other basic facilities.

Public Health State Chief Engineer Mojes Kumar, Eluru Municipal Commissioner Y Sai Srikanth, R and B, EPDC SEs Srimannarayana, Ch R Satyanarayana Reddy, Traffic DSP M Sudhakar Rao, Siemens company representatives Deepak Gour, Ashok Swaminathan, Sapuji company representatives Dibashi Mishra, Eluru Corporation health officer Dr K Suryarao and others participated in the meeting.
