Hyderabad: The 12th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court in Nampally issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Union Minister Y Sujana Chowdary on Thursday. The Minister is accused of defaulting in the repayment of loan in excess of Rs 106 crore taken from a Mauritius-based bank.

The bank had earlier slapped various cases against his company, following which the court had asked the Union Minister to attend the court after having issued summons based on the complaint filed by the bank. Despite repeated summons, the Minister failed to present himself before the court on three occasions. The bank counsel Sanjeev Kumar said: “The Minister chose not to appear before the court despite summons having been issued against him.

A conditional order was passed on April 1, asking him to be present in court or face warrants. He is taking excuses and flouting the orders of the court on regular basis.” The counsel said they argued that it was a fit case for issuance of NBW against the Minister as he was evading the process of the court and it was pleased and issued warrants against the Minister, said Sanjeev Kumar. Responding to the reports on the issuance of NBW, the Minister said: “I have been just informed that a NBW has been issued against me by the court. Owing to pressing public duties in the public interest, I was unable to appear on the previous dates.”
