Amaravati: Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas on Friday reiterated that the Central government will call tenders for construction of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Mangalagiri and reminded that the government had already called tenders to prepare designs for the construction of buildings. He said once construction is started, it will be completed within two years.
He laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of a primary health centre in Thullur into a 30-bed hospital at a cost of Rs 4.16 crore on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the State government was giving top priority for improving facilities in all government hospitals. It will appoint another 500 doctors soon. He reminded that the maternal mortality rate in the State had come down. Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao said that the government will solve gramakantas problem in a phased manner. The CRDA will distribute plots to the farmers who gave their lands for the construction of capital under the land pooling system.
He said that the government had taken steps to improve facilities in Velagapudi and surrounding mandals. Guntur MP Galla Jayadev and MLA Sravan Kumar were also present.
