It is a welcoming prospect that the Andhra Pradesh State Government has started its run to promote the tradition, culture and arts. As a part of promoting culture, literary and fine arts, Ugadi Kavi Sammelanam was organised by the Department of Culture and Language, Government of Andhra Pradesh on Friday.

Vijayawada: ‘Ugadi’ is the beginning day for a year… It is an also an auspicious day to start any event. It is a welcoming prospect that the Andhra Pradesh State Government has started its run to promote the tradition, culture and arts. As a part of promoting culture, literary and fine arts, Ugadi Kavi Sammelanam was organised by the Department of Culture and Language, Government of Andhra Pradesh on Friday evening at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College.

While addressing the meeting, chief guest of the function and State Minister for Culture and Language, IT Communications, Information and Public Relations, Minorities Welfare Dr Palle Raghunatha Reddy said that the government was keen to promote the tradition and arts in the state.

In his commendable speech, he explained the mission to be adopted for promoting culture and fine arts in the State and also to safeguard the tradition. Minister said that the birthdays of personalities like Gurajada, Gidugu and Bapu were being celebrated as State functions and the government was keen to set up academies.

He assured the artistes and literary persons that the Government would extend all possible help. Dr D Vijaya Bhaskar, Director, Cultural Affairs, in his welcome address said that with the initiation of the Chief Minister and Minister for Culture, many programmes were coming up.

He felt it was a red letter day in the history of Andhra Pradesh because 35 poets from all districts of Andhra Pradesh and also other states were invited to spread the literary aroma in Vijayawada. LVRK Prasad, chairperson, Andhra Pradesh State Warehousing Corporation said that that Government was promoting arts and culture and it was a fitting occasion to have Kavi Sammelanam.

The Sammelanam was commenced with the poetic ghazal inviting Ugadi with beautiful hopes and wishes. Veteran movie poet Bhuvanachandra presented ‘Asahanam’. Though it was titled as Asahanam, the poet said that one should develop a positive thinking to give up this frustration. Dr Kolakaluri Enoch presided over and delivered a thought-provoking verse.

Other poets Puvvada Tikkana Somayaji, Vasudha Basaveswara Rao, Madhavi Sanara, Mangalagiri Prasada Rao, Gateda Gowrinaidu, Kavi Karimullah, Mulugu Lakshmi Mythili, Dr Radheya, Datla Devadanam Raju, Kasi Viswanatha Rao, Sikha Akash, Nunna Amja Rao, Bulusu Venkateswarly, Chinta Applanaidu, Bendalam Krishna Rao, Dr Papineni Siva Sankar, Kodreddi Venkateswara Reddy, Amudala Murali, Dr N Ramachandra, Kere Jagadesh, Prof Kolakaluru Asha Jyothy, Choragudi Johnson, Prof Yandluri Sudhakar, LR Swamy, Keelaparthi Dalinaidu, Nelluri Mohana Rao, Etakota Venkata Subba Rao, Palamaneru Balaji, Losari Sudhakar and Vihari were also delivered their writings welcoming the new year ‘Durmukhi’ duly mentioning the messages like hoping the best in the new year, employees, environmental protection and on many social and traditional themes.

The State Government also conducted an art gallery depicting the Ugadi festival and its tradition in the same venue. The poets and the artists were felicitated by the Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy. The programme was conducted by Dr GV Purnachand.
