Buddha Prasad urges Telugus in Malaysia to preserve language, culture
The Telugu New Year Ugadi was celebrated with traditional gaiety and religious fervour in Malaysia under the aegis of Telugu Expats Association of Malaysia (TEAM) on Sunday. Narsapuram MLA Bandaru Madhava Naidu participated as chief guest at the celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said the fame of Telugus has spread all over the world.

Narsapuram MLA Bandaru Madhava Naidu participated as chief guest at the celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said the fame of Telugus has spread all over the world.

He said it is the duty of Telugu speaking people spread across the world to preserve their language and culture. He commended the commitment of TEAM towards the propagation of Telugu culture and fine arts through various projects. Assembly Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad highlighted the rich heritage of Telugu art forms and history of Telugu language.
He also underlined the need for celebrating festivals by coming together under a single roof, as a family. He urged the Telugus to redouble their efforts in preserving Telugu language and culture, without giving scope for any complacency. He said a language was the fulcrum of any culture which draws and binds people together.
“The roots of any culture therefore have to be assiduously nourished with the labour of love to make the superstructure called the civil society vibrant and creative,” he added. Achanta MLA Pitani Satyanarayana said it was the responsibility of the people that to ensure that Telugu was learnt and spoken by the younger generation.
He said British linguist Henry Morris said Telugu was singularly melodious and musical and termed is as Italian of the East. He quoted a few foreigners who hailed the language and the great contributions made by people like CP Brown, Sri Krishnadevaraya and others. Telangana Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy lauded the TEAM for its diligent efforts in preserving Telugu in a challenging environment and against many odds, he said, it deserved all the kudos.
He spoke about the richness and beauty of Telugu. He said every Telugu, irrespective of caste or creed, should come together to preserve Telugu civilisation. The members of TEAM organised several cultural programmes and felicitated the guests on the occasion.
