Rajamahendravaram: Dr P Chandrasekharan, General Manager, KG-PG Basin of ONGC, said as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the ONGC has been taking up many activities in the Krishna-Godavari Basin. He said that the ONGC is financially supporting various activities of NGOs and government agencies in villages of West Godavari and Krishna districts. One such programme has lighted up the faces of women of Amalapuram area.

The women have been able to eke out a livelihood, thanks to the home nursing services training imparted by an NGO. The women would undergo intensive training in home health services and soft skills.

The ONGC has also extended financial assistance to 16 schools in East and West Godavari districts for strengthening school infrastructure. The schools will now have water purifiers, computers, UPS, dual desks, chairs, tables and steel almirahs.

An amount of Rs 45 lakh was disbursed to the beneficiaries by PR Bhavana, General Manager (Geology). Addressing the beneficiaries, she appealed to them to propagate the initiatives taken up by the ONGC for the good of society.
She said the ONGC is a socially conscious and responsible organisation, and it will continue its tireless efforts for community empowerment and development in and around its operational areas. He said the corporation spends a part of its profit every year as part of its CSR activities with special focus on healthcare, education, infrastructure development and empowerment of disabled people.

AVVS Kamaraju, General Manager (Geology) and senior officials attended the programme. The programme was coordinated by B Ratnam, DGM (Geology).
