CTO office set on fire

Tirupati: In a shocking incident, unidentified miscreants set fire to the Commercial Tax Office (CTO) located near AIR bypass road here under MR Palli police station limits, late last night. According to police, the miscreants broke the window panes and sprinkled petrol inside the office and set it on fire.

A computer, furniture and files in the room were burnt to ashes. The intention of the miscreant seems to be torch the records and files. However, the incident went unreported for several hours and came to the notice of the CTO officials later. Fire tenders were reached only in the morning after receiving information from the officials but the damage was already done.

It seems that there was no security guard or watchman for the government office making the task of the miscreants easy. MR Palli police registered a case and took up investigation. Preliminary investigation by the police officials indicated that there is possibility of the hand of the insiders behind the incident, with ulterior motive.
