Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and TDP leader Y Sujana Choudhary secured partial relief from the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday. The High Court quashed the non-bailable arrest warrant against him issued by XII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Nampally Criminal Courts.

Justice Raja Elango, who was hearing the criminal revision petition filed by Sujana Choudhary, seeking stay of all proceedings, including personal appearance before the magistrate, however declined the plea.

He directed the Minister to appear in person in the Nampally court on May 5 and furnish personal bonds before the magistrate who is dealing with the case relating to the Minister defaulting on repayment of loans to the tune of Rs 106 crore to a Mauritius-based bank.

The bank had filed criminal cases against the Minsiter and two others in this regard. As the Minister failed to appear during the hearings, the magistrate had issued NBW on April 7h against him.

The counsel for the Minister contended that the loans were not taken by his client and that he had only stood as a guarantor to it. Moreover he was no longer actively associated with the company.

The judge in his interim order quashed the NBW and asked the Minister to furnish personal bonds to the magistrate on May 5. The matter was adjourned to post summer vacation in June.
