Venkatapuram (Anantapur): Minister for Civil Supplies Paritala Sunitha said that she had sought the blessings of the party leaders as well as well wishers for the mass marriages programme to be conducted by the Paritala Ravi Memorial Trust on April 21 at the Tirumala Devarakonda temple in Venkatapuram village.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, Sunitha stated that 2 lakh people are expected to participate in the mass marriages. “About 200 couples have registered so far and the last date for registrations is April 19,” she added.

The Minister stated that the mass marriages, irrespective of caste and religion was a sacred programme started by her husband Late Paritala Ravindra and saw attendance from the then Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during the first edition.

She revealed that the couples, who posed with the Chief Minister and took his blessings, are a happy lot and still have fond memories of the occasion. While the event was organised twice by her husband, Sunitha in the prelude to the fourth edition of the programme vowed to continue the programme.

Speaking on the occasion Hindupur MP Nimmala Kistappa stated that the Paritala family is well known for acts of philanthrophy. Chief whip Kalava Srinivasulu congratulated Sunitha for continuing her husband's legacy and hoped that the people of the district would support the Paritala's family.

Penukonda MLA BK Parthasaradhy called upon poor couples from all religions to take full advantage of the mass marriages which are being conducted by the Paritala Trust.
