Eluru: CPM West Godavari committee has demanded the government to implement the new Land Acquisition Act to the displaced people of Polavaram irrigation project in the district. The party unit alleged that the officials and police had threatened the displaced people to vacate the villages in the project area without completing the construction of houses.

Not even the toilets were constructed in the rehabilitation colonies and the women are facing severe troubles in those colonies. The police are forcibly vacating the people from the villages by camping day and night. They stopped power and drinking water supply to those villages for not vacating the houses. The Centre and state Governments are acting ‘inhumanly’ about the merged mandal villages.

The party unit demanded that the governments sanction the compensation to the farmers who lost their lands due to Polavaram irrigation project. The CPM has condemned the arrests of CPM leaders in view of the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s tour to the merged mandals on Wednesday.

The police officials have been arresting CPM leaders in advance during every visit of Chief Minister in the district. It is nothing but suppressing the human and democratic rights of the people.
