He took part in ground breaking ceremony o NTR Housing Scheme as part of the 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar at Karavadi village on Thursday.

Prakasam District Collector Sujatha Sharma and Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhan accompanied him. Addressing a public meeting held at the Karavadi ZPH School, the Minister said, “With the motto to win over the poverty, the government is going to construct about 6 lakh houses this year.

In Prakasam district, about 46,960 houses are being constructed in 12 assembly constituencies with a budget of Rs 760 crore. The government is committed to set up a mineral university in the Prakasam district with a budget of Rs 500 crore and it will be launched soon by the Chief Minister.

As of now, a IIIT is being set up in Ongole with Rs 1,200 crore budget and several companies are coming forward to set up companies at Donakonda Industrial Corridor with Rs 23,500 crore to provide employment to nearly 70,000 people.” MLA Damacharla Janardhan said, “The government has permitted to construct 4,068 houses in Ongole assembly constituency with Rs 156 crore.

Out of them, 1,500 houses are being constructed in Ongole town only. In Karavadi, 38 beneficiaries are selected for houses with Rs 2.9 lakh per unit cost.” Collector Sujatha Sharma said, “In the unit value of Rs 2.9 lakh, the SC, ST communities will get a subsidy of Rs 1.75 lakh while others get Rs 1.1 lakh as subsidy in the bank loans.”

AP Housing Department PD Dhanunjayudu, DRDA PD Murali, MLC Magunta Srinivasula Reddy, Ongole RDO Srinivasa Raop and other officials participated in the programme.
