Addressing the gathering, the CM said a mega township will be constructed at Jakkampudi village in 265 acres to provide accommodation to one lakh people. He praised the officers for choosing 265 acres land near Vijayawada city and Polavaram right canal for construction of houses and asserted that all basic amenities will be provided in the mega township.
“Double bed room houses will be constructed in 400 square yards at a cost of Rs 5.5 lakh each in Jakkampudi. Houses will be constructed in 400 square yards in urban areas and in the rural areas they will be constructed in 275 square yards,” he added.
Naidu stated the government will be extending a subsidy of Rs 1.80 lakh to SC, ST families and Rs 1.25 lakh to the beneficiaries from backward classes in the NTR housing scheme.
“Late N T Rama Rao wished for providing housing to the poor and it is a good sign that the foundation stone laying programme was conducted on the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, who always wished the welfare of the poor,” he remarked.

Delegation from China displayed the designs for the township. Ministers K Mrunalini, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Kollu Ravindra, MP Kesineni Srinivas and others were also present.
