ANU College of Engineering Technology, attached to Acharya Nagarjuna University, will start the Surya course soon to impart training in setting up solar power projects for B.Tech, B.E., M.Tech, M.E. engineering graduates and post graduates. 

Amaravati: ANU College of Engineering Technology, attached to Acharya Nagarjuna University, will start the Surya course soon to impart training in setting up solar power projects for B.Tech, B.E., M.Tech, M.E. engineering graduates and post graduates.

The six-month course launched last year is aimed at encouraging self-employment among youth. Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy department will sponsor the programme and the same has been communicated to ANU officials.

Upon completion of course, the Surya graduates either start a solar power projects or they would set up solar equipment-related industries. The NEDCAP would provide necessary financial assistance through the banks for the purpose, ANU officials said.

ANU Vice-Chancellor Prof A Rajendra Prasad, ANU College of Engineering Technology principal Prof P.Siddaiah told the Hans India that they would start the course with 60 seats initially and the existing reservation norms would be applicable too.

Depending upon the demand, in case of need they would start second batch also. They said the first two batches of Surya Mitras who had completed the course got placements.

After Gujarat, the AP government is giving top priority to harness solar power. The State government has decided to set up ultra mega solar power parks in Anantapur and Kadapa districts in the state to increase solar power production.
