He said that the TDP government would construct double bedroom houses for all eligible beneficiaries in a phased manner under the NTR Housing Scheme.

The Minister participated as a chief guest for 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr BR Ambedkar organised at Ambedkar Bhavan here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Bojjala stated that the government is committed to continue fee reimbursement scheme for extending financial support to the students of Dalit community and other neglected sections of society.

The Minister said that the TDP government has introduced several welfare schemes for the benefit of SC, ST, BC and minorities. He expressed anguish that injustice is being meted out to certain eligible beneficiaries due to laxity of officials. He said instructions were given to officials concerned to sanction pension for all the eligible beneficiaries.

Bojjala admitted that poverty alleviation programmes were running at snail pace in the district. He stated that the Chief Minister has been striving relentlessly for uplift of Dalits and weaker sections of society. District Collector Siddharth Jain explained the progress of various welfare schemes being implemented for the SC, ST, BC, and minorities. He assured of constructing two community halls, one in Chittoor and another one Tirupati.

YSRCP MLA Narayanaswamy regretted that no single house site patta was sanctioned to SC and ST communities in the State for the last two years. He said upper caste people are exploiting SCs as there is no unity among them. Chittoor MP N Sivaprasad has blamed certain police officials for harassing SCs by calling them to police stations.

ZP Chairperson Girvani, TDP district president G Srinivasulu, former Minister G Kuthuhalamma, ASP Ratna, Joint Collector 2 Venkata Subbaiah, DRO Vijayachander, Chittoor RDO Kodandarami Reddy, DSP Lakshmi Naidu and others were present.
