An auto driver handed over Rs 10 lakh-worth jewellery and other valuables in Nellore city on Friday when a passenger had forgotten to collect his luggage. Nellore SP Vishal Gunni appreciated the auto-driver for handing valuables to the police.
Nellore: An auto driver handed over Rs 10 lakh worth jewellery and other valuables in Nellore city on Friday when a passenger had forgotten to collect his luggage. Nellore SP Vishal Gunni appreciated the auto-driver for handling valuables to the police. The SP explained that Gunapati Murahari Reddy hailed an auto at PTG petrol bunk located in Balajinagar in the city limits on Friday morning and Kayala Raghu of Chintareddypalem was driving the vehicle.
Reddy of Indiranagar in Gudur town got down from a bus coming from Hyderabad and reached his friend’s house in Pundarikashayya Street. He, then, observed that he had forgotten luggage in which his valuables were kept. The bag contained Rs 40,000 cash, gold chains, rings, three diamond rings, laptop and mobile phones.
When Reddy reached Balajinagar police station to lodge a complaint with police, auto driver Raghu reached and handed over the bag. Reddy appreciated the honesty of the driver and gave Rs. 5,000 cash to the driver for his honesty in the presence of police officials.
