Sri Rama Navami celebrations were conducted in all Sri Rama temples in the city with great devotion and a large number of devotees thronged the Lord Sita Rama Swamy  temple at Ambikabhaugh area here on Friday where the main official celebrations were held.

Local MP K Hari Babu, along with his family members, visited the temple and presented pattu vastrams where ‘abhishekam’ began at 5 am and kalyanotsav from 9.30 am onwards. Zilla Praja Parishad Chairperson Lalam Bhavani, her husband and TDP leader Lalam Bhaskar Rao, former MLAs Dronamraju Srinivas, Malla Vijay Prasad, ACB DSP Ramakrishna Prasad and DSP, Srikakulam Ch Vivekananda were present on the occasion.

Temple executive officer S J Madhavi, her family members, temple deputy executive engineer Ch V Ramana, assistant EO V Rambabu, staff members Suryakumari, P Rama Rao, Raju and Murti monitored the arrangements. Later, the temple authorities provided meals to over 5,000 devotees who attended the fete.

Commissioner of Police Amit Garg, along with family members performed Sita Rama Kalyanam at the police quarters, where all police personnel attended. Sri Rama Navami was also performed at Sri Sathya Sai Prema Sadan at MVP Colony on Friday where devotees Raghunath Gupta and Ashok Kumar performed kalyanam with family members with devotion.

Former Andhra University teacher and scholar Prof Kolavennu Malayavasini explained uniqueness of the Ramayanam stating that the characters of Sita and Rama stand as role models to everybody and their human values need to be practised by all. District president of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations V R Nageswara Rao, city convener P R S N Naidu, coordinators D Raghava Rao, Dwaram Swami and others made necessary arrangements.

In Andhra University, In-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof E A Narayana and Registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao with their family members performed Sri Rama Navami kalyanotsav on the campus on Friday to which a large number of teachers, employees, students and researchers attended.
