Vontimitta Brahmotsavams start amid devotional fervour

A sea of humanity witnessed  the annual  Brahmotsavams which took off to a  olourful start in Sri Kodandarama Swami temple at Vontimitta in Kadapa district on Friday. The Dwajarohanam condu cted in the morning of which Dhwajapatham bearing the image of Lord Garuda was hoisted on temple pillar in a ceremonious manner amidst the Vedic chanting. 

Vontimitta(Kadapa): A sea of humanity witnessed the annual Brahmotsavams which took off to a olourful start in Sri Kodandarama Swami temple at Vontimitta in Kadapa district on Friday. The Dwajarohanam condu cted in the morning of which Dhwajapatham bearing the image of Lord Garuda was hoisted on temple pillar in a ceremonious manner amidst the Vedic chanting.

Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao offered new silk vastrams to the presiding deities on behalf of State government. He said the aim of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was to develop Vontimitta temple as most-sought-after pilgrim centre.

Other prominent persons who attended the holy event include MLA M Mallikarjun Reddy, CM Ramesh, former MP Saipratap, TTD JEO (Tirupati) P Bhaskar, Deputy EOs Balaji, Veerabrahmam, Varalakshmi and others.

As this was the first official festival organised by the government after bifurcation, the authorities celebrated the festival in a grand gala manner as directed by the Chief Minister. Electrical illuminations, shamianas set up to a long stretch and other facilities were in place for the convenience of overflowing devotees.

Later, in the evening Lord Rama along with his consort Sita and brother Lakshmana including Hanumantha processional deities were taken out for celestial ride on Sesha Vahanam and it was a feast to the eyes of sizeable devotees.

Kavisammelanam which was organised by the TTD and temple authorities had large number of poets participating which gave sonorous feast to the devotees.

Meanwhile, after Dhwajarohanam the TTD JEO P Bhaskar along with district SP Naveen Gulati inspected the Kalyana Vedika site where Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam is scheduled to take place on April 20 to which protocol dignitaries including AP and TS Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and other VIPs are taking part.
