Eluru: West Godavari collector K Bhaskar on Monday said that 21 new mobile ambulances of 104 services would be inaugurated on April 20 in the district.
Speaking at the district coordination committee meeting on Monday here at Collectorate, he said the new ambulances would be better equipped in terms of infrastructure and facilities than earlier ambulance services for the benefit of rural people.
Explaining about the upgraded facilities in the new ambulances, he said medical personnel including a doctor, lab technician with lab equipment, ECG machine, a pharmacist would be available in the ambulances. Earlier the ambulances were merely used to ferry the patients to hospitals, he added.
The Collector further said Rotavirus vaccine and inactivated polio vaccine programmes would be taken up as a precautionary measure to control diarrhea in the district. He instructed officials concerned to administer Rotavirus vaccine to children below two years, during sixth, 10th and 14th weeks of infancy. He appealed to parents to take note of the same.
District medical and health officer S Vijaya Gowry, district coordinator, health services Dr. Sankara Rao, joint collectors Pulipati Koteswara Rao, MH Sheriff and district revenue officer K Prabhakar Rao and others were present on the occasion.
