Vijayawada: Starting from next year, the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (Eamcet) will be held online. Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, on Monday said all the common entrance tests would be conducted online from next year.

Srinivasa Rao made it clear that students would not be allowed to carry wrist watches into the examination centres for Eamcet 2016 scheduled on April 29. The results would be announced on May 9.

Srinivasa Rao said he would talk to Telangana police officials for security arrangements at the examination centres in Hyderabad. The government has arranged 355 test centres, including 329 test centres in the State and 26 in Telangana, for engineering stream.

For Agriculture and Medical stream, 191 test centres, including 165 in AP and 26 in Telangana.The HRD Minister said around 37,068 more applications were received compared to last year.

Of the total, 17,163 more applications were received from AP and from Telangana it is 19,905 applications. As many as 378 observers, 123 special observers, 150 enforcement officers and special squads were constituted to supervise the arrangements for smooth conduct of Eamcet.
