Chittoor: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is committed to city development, according to Chittoor MLA DK Satyaprabha. She said that the Chief Minister had given instructions to party district leaders to prepare an action plan in this regard for making the city as model one. The MLA said, in response to Chief Minister’s instructions, that a project report with a road map has been submitted to the State government for immediate approval to initiate developmental works in the city.
The MLA has convened a development committee meeting of Chittoor Assembly constituency at her chamber here on Monday. She asked officials of the Chittoor Municipal Corporation (CMC) to extend their cooperation for achieving the desired targets in the process of making Chittoor city as a model one.
“Public issues related to the Chittoor Assembly constituency should be brought to the notice of the Chief Minister for required action,” she added saying that the Chief Minister has decided to develop Chittoor on par with Tirupati in all respects. She stated that officials of the Irrigation department should expedite the Kattamanchi and Gangineni tank restoration works.
Satyaprabha felt that the civic officials should take steps for mitigating the drinking water problem in the city. She informed that she would appraise all the matters relating to the development of Chittoor Assembly Constituency to the district in-charge Minister P Narayana shortly. Participating in the meeting, city Mayor Subramanian said that instructions were given to remove the silt from Kattamanchi tank at the earliest. “It has been decided to develop Kattamanchi tank as a tourist spot where boating facility would be provided. Plantations would be taken up for developing a parking culture around the tank. The CMC has already given an administrative sanction for Rs 2.5 crore for developing the Kattamanchi Tank, she added.
TDP official spokesperson V Surendra Kumar felt that there was an immediate need to regulate the traffic in the city. He said that the CMC has come forward to allocate funds from the budget for maintenance of traffic signals in the city.
Chittoor Cooperative Town Bank Chairman Shanmugam suggested for laying double lane road up to Ambedkar Bhavan from BV Reddy Nagar Colony. TDP leader Badri Narayana stressed that the APSRTC should introduce two more bus services in the city. TDP leaders Rajeswari and others were present.
