Rajamahendravaram: With an aim to decongest and provide hassle-free experience to road users, corporators of the Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation have unanimously agreed to upgrade the traffic signals in the city. A decision was made to invite fresh tenders for installation and maintenance of traffic signals.
Public representatives, municipal and revenue officials deliberated on the current traffic mechanism in the city at the Traffic Advisory Board meeting held here on Monday. Several suggestions and proposals came forward from the participants. Municipal commissioner V Viajayarama Raju proposed the need to construct foot over bridges (FoB) across the main road at Kotipalli bus stand and at the railway track near ISKON temple in the city.
A proposal was also made to restrict number of autos and goods vehicles plying in city besides strengthening public transportation by introducing buses between suburban areas and the core city. Some of those present at the meeting also proposed the need to introduce one-way traffic in the areas like Danavai Peta, A V Apparao road. A majority of them threw their weight behind insisting shop owners and building owners to park vehicles in parking places available in cellars.
A proposal for the procurement of movable central dividers with radium stickers as per the request of traffic officials also came up for discussion.
Rajamundry City MLA Dr Akula Satyannarayana, City Mayor Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai and Rajanagaram MLA Pendurthi Venkatesh took part in the discussion.
