Vijayawada: CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for limiting the fund allocation for Amaravati construction to Rs 900 crore, whereas it was proposed at Rs 2,000 crore by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

In a press release here on Tuesday, Ramakrishna alleged that the Prime Minister who attended the Amaravati capital foundation stone laying ceremony had handed over two pots of water and sand to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ignoring the implementation of assured promises for the State.

He wondered why the NDA Government was hoodwinking the people that State witnessing development under Modi rule. No measures were taken by the Centre in making any specific statement on the much-awaited new railway zone with headquarters in Visakhapatnam and steel factory in Kadapa. Moreover, a meagre allocation of Rs 200 crore was sanctioned by the Centre towards the completion of Polavaram multipurpose irrigation project.

He questioned that how Central Government could complete Polavaram multipurpose project by 2019, through allocating meager funds. The CPI leader also took a dig at the Center for ignoring the proposal of Rs 1,400 crore sent by the State Government to overcome the drought conditions in the State.

At least now, the Union Minister, M Venkaiah Naidu, should break his silence over the raw deal meted out to the State in all aspects and prevail upon the Prime Minister over according the special category status to the State, he demanded.
