A mock fire drill was performed by the fire services personnel at Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy Vari Devasthanam atop Ratnagiri on Tuesday as part of the Fire Service Week. Speaking on the occasion, Tuni Fire Officer KV Ramana urged the temple staff working in Potu, Annadanam complex and temple choultries to be more careful in discharging their duties. 

Annavaram (East Godavari): A mock fire drill was performed by the fire services personnel at Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy Vari Devasthanam atop Ratnagiri on Tuesday as part of the Fire Service Week. Speaking on the occasion, Tuni Fire Officer KV Ramana urged the temple staff working in Potu, Annadanam complex and temple choultries to be more careful in discharging their duties.

He expressed sorrow over the fire tragedy at Puttingal Devi temple in Kerala, which claimed more than 100 lives. Creating an awareness about fire safety among the temple staff, he explained the common causes of fire and emergency measures to be taken to extinguish the flames in case of a mishap. People should take all precautions to prevent fires during summer.

One should show the presence of mind in dealing with an emergency situation without getting panicked to mitigate loss during fires, he said. The daredevil feats performed by the fire services personnel as part of the mock fire drill, left the pilgrims and temple staff awestruck.
