He said plastic products are associated with all kinds of important industries like automobile, aeronautical, engineering, construction, electrical and electronics. He said the CIPET operates from 28 locations in India and imparting training to the workers and unemployed youth and doing research work.

He said the students and manpower trained at the CIPET will get placements all over India as there is the huge demand for skilled and trained workers. Sugumar said industries will recruit the required staff basing on the information provided by CIPET. He said the Government of India is planning to promote industries as part of ‘Make in India’ programme and planning to give training to the youth in a massive way.

He said the plastic processing industry is providing employment to more than 10 lakh people in India and another 10 lakh will get employment by 2023-24. He said during 2015-16, the CIPET had trained 63,020 people through long-term as well as short- term skill development training programmes and it has an ambition of achieving the target of 6.2 lakh by the end of the year 2027.

Giving details of the courses being offered by CIPET, he said diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be offered in different parts of India. Referring to CIPET centre to be set up in Vijayawada, he said the main objective is to provide short-term courses for one month, three months and six months.

He said the CIPET centre, Vijayawada would mainly focus on the training and skill development and later long term courses will be offered. He said the CIPET works under the control of Department of Chemical and Petrochemicals, Government of India and fully devoted to Skill Development, Technology Support Services, Academic and Research in all domains of plastic engineering and technology which include design and tool processing.
