After bifurcation of the state, the Union government has sanctioned the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research to the Andhra Pradesh as part of the IDTR scheme in the transport department. The state government has allotted 20acres of land at Venkatachalam Palli village near Darsi, the assembly constituency of Siddha Raghava Rao and released Rs. 8 crores to add to Rs. 17 crores funds from central government.

In the total Rs. 25crores, the buildings are to be constructed with Rs. 18.51 crores budget and is expected to be completed by March 2018.
