Tirumala: TTD Tirumala JEO KS Srinivasa Raju on Saturday inspected the Rs 300 ticket holders’ new complex here to know whether the arrangements are in place to cope with the summer rush of pilgrims. After inspecting the arrangements, the JEO told media persons that the new system which was launched on April 8 has won the accolades of the pilgrims with its all facilities including luggage counters, food court and cafeteria under one roof.

In the wake of huge summer vacation rush which is expected to swell from this month end onwards, the JEO said that the TTD has restricted VIP break darshan only to protocol VIPs and cancelled morning slot darshan to aged and physically challenged on Fridays from April 15 till June 30.

He also said that as the heat waves are blowing even in Tirumala this year, TTD has made elaborate sun protective arrangements for pilgrims by painting coolants, providing shelters, supplying water and buttermilk to pilgrims as heat relief measures. Answering a query, the JEO said only Srivari Vahanams are allowed in the four mada streets as the place is considered to be pious.

“Earlier, vehicles were allowed near temple when the four mada streets are not widened. Now, we have spacious mada streets and they have been declared as no vehicle zone. Vehicles are allowed only up to vaibhavotsava mandapam point and not beyond that,” he maintained.
