Visakhapatnam: Residents in the north coastal Andhra and those travelling on trains had a tough day when an hour-long power outage hit various parts of Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and East Godavari districts on Sunday due to damage to the capacitor voltage transformer at the Kalpaka 400 KV sub-station near Parawada, which comes under Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (AP Transco).

The power disruption affected the movement of the trains between Samalkot in East Godavari to Ichapuram in Srikakulam for about an hour. As a result several trains ran behind the schedule between 5 am to 6 am. The power cut also hit the industries in the district on Sunday. The power cut coupled with increased temperatures made the people feel the brunt of the summer in the early hours on Sunday.
