Amaravati: Former Union Minister Daggubati Purandeswari urged the party leaders to hit back against the false propaganda that the Centre was not releasing funds for the development of State. She also pressed the leaders and the cadre to explain welfare schemes and development works taken up by the Centre.
Addressing the gathering at the BJP Guntur district convention meet, on Saturday, she reminded that the Centre has released more than Rs.1.4 lakh crore to the State under various schemes. “Union Minister for Transport Nitin Gadkari announced Rs 65,000 crore for the development of highways in the State. Panchayats would get Rs 20 lakh to 50 lakh under 14th finance commission grants,” she added. Purandeswari said that the Narendra Modi government revised norms for sanctioning compensation for crop damage. “According to new norms, if the crop is damaged more than 30 per cent, the land owner will get compensation,” she added. Stating that reforms in agriculture market system will fetch a better price for the produce, the former Minister said that online marketing facility was provided for 21 markets and it would be soon extended to 581 markets.
Lashing out at the opposition for politicising the incidents that happened at varsities, she said that out of 750 universities in the country untoward incidents took place in only three universities and the opposition was politicizing the incidents to gain political mileage.
Former Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana said that BJP is having 11.5 crore membership, the largest in the country. “The Central government sanctioned Rs 20,000 crore for the development of roads in the capital. They have also decided to construct 5crore houses for the poor in the country,” he added.
BJP district president Nallabotu Venkata Rao presided over the meeting. Yadlapati Raghunathababu, K SubbaRao, V Panduranga Vithal and others were present.
